In 2019, the Dementia Care & Cure Initiative (DCCI) for Pasco & Pinellas counties launched, as a part of a statewide initiative, in coordination with the Department of Elder Affairs, the Area Agency on Aging of Pasco – Pinellas (AAAPP), and the Madonna Ptak Center for Alzheimer’s Research and Memory Disorders Clinic at Morton Plant Mease Hospital. Our vision is a community that embraces and empowers people living with dementia, while our mission is to promote dementia awareness through advocacy, education, and collaboration. Task Force members accomplish this through training local individuals, organizations and communities on Dementia Sensitivity, among other awareness and advocacy efforts.
We are writing to ask you and/or someone from your organization to join the DCCI Taskforce. While the end goal of the Initiative is to incorporate all sectors of the community, we have decided to begin educating and training our partners in law enforcement and first responders.
Our next two meetings, via Zoom, are
Thursday September 17th from 9am--10:30am and Thursday October 15th from 9am--10:30am
The time commitment for the Taskforce will include one meeting per month (3rd Thursday of each month) and your commitment in helping to implement the DCCI mission between task force meetings. This may include assisting with awareness efforts, providing sensitivity trainings, etc. See attached information about this initiative.
Thanks so much for your consideration of this important initiative, and if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to Celisa Bonner with Madonna Ptak MDC at email@example.com. or Stacie Bolen, AAAPP at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Caring for our community together,
