June 10, 2020 [St. Petersburg, FL] -- Join The Florida Holocaust Museum (The FHM) and 60 other museums and cultural institutions around the world for We Are Here: A Celebration of Resilience, Resistance, and Hope a virtual program on Sunday, June 14 at 2:00 p.m. EST. This special concert event commemorates 2020 as the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II, as it speaks to the challenges of the current moment.
In this time of rising antisemitism and global crisis, notions of resistance, resilience, and hope are more important than ever. The words of the Zog nit keyn mol, the Partisan Song, are inspirational and take on even more resonance today. It begins with the words "Never say this is the final road for you," and ends with the words "We Are Here." It is the song that binds together those who fight for justice.
The free 75-minute program will feature musical performances and remarks from performers and public figures including multi-Grammy-winning opera star Joyce DiDonato, multi-platinum, Tony-winning Broadway star from the hit musicals Miss Saigon & Les Miserables Lea Salonga, world renowned pianist Lang Lang, virtuoso violinist Joshua Bell, Grammy-winning Metropolitan Opera mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard, beloved Soprano from The Light in the Piazza Renee Fleming, internationally renowned baritone Lester Lynch, 2020 Grammy Winner John Brancy, pianist and NPR's "From The Top" host Peter Dugan, beloved klezmer singer Daniel Kahn, Broadway Actor & Lucille Lortel Winner, Steven Skybell, orphan of the Holocaust and media personality Dr. Ruth Westheimer, TV sitcom icon, Mayim Bialik, Academy Award Winners Adrien Brody & Whoopi Goldberg and star comedians Jackie Hoffman & Tiffany Haddish. The program will also feature an interview with producer Nancy Spielberg, filmmaker Roberta Grossman and, author Sam Kassow, by Jodi Rudoren, the Editor-in-Chief of The Forward, about their film "Who Will Write Our History," about Oneg Shabes, the group that daringly preserved the history of the Warsaw Ghetto.
