FAMU Ignite Day at St. Petersburg College Feb. 27

Florida A&M University (FAMU) is striking down in St. Petersburg to meet with future Rattlers at St. Petersburg College. The two institutions are clearing the path for students who are interested in transferring seamlessly from SPC to FAMU through the Ignite program, which offers guaranteed admission and saves students time and money.

Women’s voting portrayals at SPC Clearwater Campus March 5

In recognition of the 100th anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment, a group of community women will be reenacting the 1909 voting rights movement by marching throughout the SPC Clearwater Campus dressed as suffragists. Actor and Artist Nana Colton will be leading the way, portraying author and advocate Louisa May Alcott at 11:30 a.m. on March 5. This event is in collaboration with SPC’s Clearwater American Association of University Women.


The Community Concert Band & Wind Symphony March 5

SPC will host The Community Concert Band and Wind Symphony to highlight SPC’s Veterinary Technology program. The concert will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 5 at the Palladium at St. Petersburg College. Joël Vaïsse, principal trombonist of the Florida Orchestra, is featured as a guest soloist. Music includes several animal-themed works such as Noisy Wheels of Joy by Eric Whitacre, Old Ben’s Farm by Andrew Boysen, and more. For information, contact Nathan Muehl at


FREE jewelry-making CAD workshop March 7

St. Petersburg College (SPC) will host a free jewelry-making workshop using CAD software from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Sat, March 7 at SPC Clearwater Campus, 2465 Drew St. Students will design their own 3D-modeled jewelry that will be created on-site with a 3D printer. Sponsored by Duke Energy Foundation, the workshop will also provide information on SPC’s Computer Aided Design (CAD) certificate program that prepares students for a career in the exciting, high-wage energy and engineering fields. Clean Up 4 Climate March 28

Community members are invited to participate in Clean Up 4 Climate from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 28 at the SPC Bay Pines STEM Center, 4723 Bay Pines Terrace, St. Petersburg. This clean-up project is a collaborative effort with SPC’s Institute for Strategic Policy Solutions, Keep Pinellas Beautiful and SPC’s Student Government Association. To register, visit here.
