SPC alumni featured in Super Bowl commercial
SPC alumni and astronaut Nicole Stott was featured in Olay’s Super Bowl commercial #MakeSpaceForWomen. Stott, joined by Taraji P. Henson, Katie Couric, Busy Philipps and Lilly Singh, reenacted a space mission to “make space for women” in STEM careers. For 24 hours, Olay will donate one dollar for every tweet to raise $500,000 for Girls Who Code. See Twitter post here.
SPC celebrates National Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month
February is Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month, which celebrates the value and achievements of CTE programs, also referred to as Workforce Education, across the country. St. Petersburg College offers a short-term training alternative that prepares students to enter high-wage, in-demand careers, as well as two and four-year degrees in areas such as computer programming, cybersecurity, information technology, health sciences, advance manufacturing and more. SPC Midtown Center offers a new program; 12-credit classes in 12 weeks
The SPC Midtown Center is offering a unique Express Session for students to take four classes, earning 12 credits in just 12 weeks, beginning Feb. 10. The four classes, humanities, political science, speech communication and English composition, allow students to complete 12 hours of core requirements by attending classes for about four hours per day, Monday through Thursday, for the duration of the session. SPC to host annual Titan Trot
SPC will host the sixth annual Titan Trot 5K fun run/walk at St. Petersburg College’s Clearwater Campus on Saturday, Feb. 8, from 8-10 a.m. Proceeds from the Titan Trot will fund scholarships awarded to selected students in 2020. Registration is open here.
Student artists needed for Art & Music Festival
Share your talent with the community at the Good Vibes Only Art & Music Festival on Saturday, April 25. The festival, a joint venture between St. Petersburg College and USF St. Petersburg, is a celebration of student art and music. Student musicians, bands and visual artists will to participate in the one-day event from 3-7 p.m. at Williams Park, 350 2nd Ave N., St. Petersburg. Artist applicants must apply by April 10.
