Art Around the World inclusive summer camp returns for 11th year

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – G’dayo! Ni hao! Hola! Manahoana! Creative Clay’s inclusive summer camp for children 6-12 will teach students about the art, culture and customs of Australia, China, Mexico and Madagascar.

Camp begins June 3 and continues through July 26, Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Campers will enjoy a teacher/student ratio of 1:6. Each week culminates in a Friday afternoon for parents and friends in Creative Clay’s Performing Arts Studio.

Children of different abilities share a classroom and the experience of creating art together versus a traditional school setting where students are often separated due to neuro differences. Unique to this camp is the opportunity for each camper to create a camp T-shirt. Campers submit their portrait, and Big Frog Custom T-Shirts uses all images to create a memento for campers.

Popular with parents looking for a small, creative setting, Art Around the World provides varied experiences and creates a culture of acceptance. Parents are the best predictors, since it’s their child’s happiness that is at the forefront, and their reviews speak volumes.

“Sara had such an amazing and extraordinary time at your camp last summer,” said Gloria C. “She made new friends and learned so many new things about Norway. Sara was always doing something fun and learning when she was at your camp. This could have never been possible without the help of the scholarship she was given. Sara loves art and your camp so much.”

The cost to attend Art Around the World is $150.00 per week, and scholarships are available for those who qualify. Parents and caregivers also get a summer break from lunch prep thanks to free lunches provided daily by the Pinellas County School System. Parents are grateful for the generosity of community organizations such as Publix that provide scholarships for Art Around the World. This year’s camp is also funded in part by The White Family Foundation, The J. Crayton Pruitt Foundation, The Rotary Club of St. Petersburg.

“My son Samuel loved your summer camp,” said Claudia B. “Each day as I would pick him up he would say how many new friends he had made and what cool projects he had done.”

This year, Creative Pinellas established the Catalyst Grant as a resource for parents offset summer programming costs. Learn more about the Creative Pinellas Catalyst Grant at

Older students also have opportunities experience art making and summer camp at Creative Clay. Summer Studio was created to give young artists of all abilities between the ages of 13 and 22 the opportunity to learn, express, and sell their art over the summer. Led by professional artists, summer studio will serve youth interested in learning about drawing, painting, fiber arts, mixed media and ceramics in an individually-paced studio environment with a focus on employment readiness. Classes will meet M-F from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and cost $125 per week. Free lunches will be provided by the Pinellas County School System. Register here:
