When you walk into The Studieaux, a former laundromat turned yoga studio and healing center on the northside of Round Lake Park in Historic Uptown, the first thing you notice is the fun, upbeat energy and New Orleans vibe the studio owners have cultivated. From the fleur de lis in their logo, to the colorful lights in the yoga space, to the carefully crafted playlists played at top volume during each class, these yogis definitely know how to let the good times roll. The Studieaux, new to Historic Uptown as of October of 2018, is part of a neighborhood revitalization that brings cafe Flat Bread & Butter and a second location to The Hollander Hotel. The Studieaux is excited to bring their unique vision for healing and yoga to this historic neighborhood in transition.
The Studieaux, founded by Emily Zaunbrecher and Taylor Ketcham, is a place of modern and accessible mind, body and spirit integration. They make you feel right at home whether you are an expert yogi, or have never stepped foot in a yoga studio. Their goal is to make The Studieaux a fun, light-hearted place of healing. The Studieaux is the only yoga studio in the Tampa Bay area completely focused on Buti Yoga™ , a dynamic yoga practice that fuses primal movement, tribal dance and deep core movement. But Buti Yoga™ is not the only modality of movement and healing offered at The Studieaux. Students can also find DEEP, Buti’s luxurious and restorative counterpart, along with classes in Tai Chi, Beginner Hatha, and moving music meditations. The Studieaux has also recently launched an online streaming service featuring many of their in-studio class offerings as well as spiritual and philosophical teachers from all over the world who have landed in St. Pete and greater Tampa Bay Area.
Alongside yoga and movement, The Studieaux is the only healing center in Tampa Bay offering Fascial Stretch Therapy (FST), and Menstruality Coaching. Menstruality Coaching helps women to harness the energy of their cycle and optimize rather than fight it. Taylor Ketcham teaches women how to cultivate healthy lifestyle habits through Menstrual Cycle Awareness. Taylor has her MA in English and worked with the Red School in the UK on her coaching practice. “The Studieaux is a safe place for women and men to normalize conversations about where they are energetically in their cycle. Menstruality has been my ultimate spiritual power practice and I wouldn’t be in this space without it. Everyday I work with my cycle, it is a remembering of a deep and profound knowledge, and everyday I introduce it to another I count as a great one.” Taylor offers introductory sessions as well as seasonal packages for her Menstruality Coaching practice.
Fascial Stretch Therapy™ , or FST, is a gentle assisted stretching technique which is shown to have dramatic results with chronic pain. In fact, in a study completed at The University of Arizona showed statistically significant improvements using FST with chronic low back pain. FST is performed on a treatment table in a relaxing environment and clients have endorsed it for pain, stress and anxiety, mobility, and athletic performance. Emily Zaunbrecher is a certified FST therapist and has 7 years experience as an Registered Nurse in a local Neuro/Trauma ICU. She is currently completing a Masters Degree in Holistic Nursing. Emily strongly believe in the healing powers of FST, saying “In my years of nursing, even dispensing the most powerful pain medications into people’s veins, I’ve never seen as genuine and effective pain relief for chronic pain as I’ve seen in my relatively short time of practicing Fascial Stretch Therapy.” Emily offers FST consultations, as well as packages to receive multiple FST sessions at a discount.
While The Studieaux has had its doors open in Historic Uptown since October, they are excited to be officially welcomed into the community at a ribbon cutting ceremony with the St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce on March 27th, 2019, starting at 5pm. The grand opening celebration will feature a ribbon cutting, open house, health and wellness practitioners, and finish with an optional yoga class.
