St. Petersburg, Florida

As the demand for nurses continues to grow, Galen College of Nursing is dedicated to meeting the needs of our students and the communities we serve. Galen is committed to supporting our community, not only through quality nursing education, but also in workforce development and excellence in healthcare.

After being in the community for over 25 years, Galen is opening one of the largest campuses in Southwest Florida dedicated solely to nursing education. This new, state-of-the-art 70,000 square foot facility features an Advanced Simulation Hospital with specialized areas for maternity, aging care and medical/surgical, and is designed to foster learning through a thoughtful blend of classroom technology, compelling design and collaborative and creative space.  The new campus is a symbol of the high-quality education Galen provides and an expression of ongoing commitment to an increasing student body.

With a mission to expand opportunity in nursing education, Galen offers multiple pathways in nursing education. Students can choose from a 3-year Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing (BSN), an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN), a Practical Nursing (PN) program, or an LPN to ADN Bridge program. For RNs with their Associate Degree in Nursing, Galen also offers a one-of-a-kind Online RN to BSN.

Galen College of Nursing is one of the largest private nursing schools in the United States and was established by Humana in 1989 with a single purpose: to offer excellence in nursing education. Humana, which at that time was positioned as one of the largest insurance providers and healthcare systems in the country, developed practical/vocational nursing programs in response to a severe national nursing shortage. Galen became an independent educational organization upon the dissolution of the Humana hospital system.

With over 25,000 students and alumni, we provide nursing education to nearly 1,300 students at our Tampa Bay campus with over 5,000 students across all campus locations. Galen student NCLEX® pass rates consistently exceed state and national averages and the college is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSOC), with its Associate Degree in Nursing programmatically accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) and Bachelor of Science in Nursing programmatically accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

We hope you’ll join us to celebrate the future of our students and the future of healthcare in the community, as well as Galen’s new campus. Please RSVP by September 14 to 727-258-6836 or
