Grand Opening of Johns Hopkins All Children’s Research and Education Building

WHAT: The Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital Research & Education building officially opens September 20. Patients, employees, community stakeholders and local and state government officials will celebrate in a special ceremony. The research and education building will serve as a center for innovation in pediatric education and research. Located in the heart of St. Petersburg’s innovation district, the 230,000-square-foot facility will feature research, laboratory and simulation training spaces as well as educational areas, including a 250-seat auditorium. The Peabody Restaurant, located inside the building, will also participate in the celebration and officially opens its doors to the public on September 21.

WHERE: 600 5th street south in St. Petersburg (parking information coming soon)

WHEN: September 20 at 10 a.m. (While the formal ceremony starts at 11 a.m., media will get exclusive tours and interviews at 10 a.m. or after 11:30 a.m.)


  • Visuals inside the building include new simulation training space, research and lab space, auditorium and biorepository for the collection, processing and storing of millions of biospecimen samples such as blood, tissue and urine
