Eleven-year-old graduates from St. Petersburg College

Eleven-year-old graduates from St. Petersburg College

Just one year older than a decade, William Maillis will be graduating from St. Petersburg College (SPC) with an Associate in Arts. SPC will hold its 137th commencement ceremony at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 21 at the First Baptist Church of Indian Rocks, 12685 Ulmerton Road, Largo.

By the age of five, Maillis was declared a genius by Ohio State University psychologist Joanne Ruthsatz and has never been homeschooled. In May 2016, at the age of nine, he graduated from Penn-Trafford High School in Pittsburgh.

Before the age of five, Maillis learned:

• Addition and subtraction at one and half
• Knew the alphabet in three languages at three years’ old
• Learned Algebra by the age of four
• Started elementary school at four years’ old
Maillis will transfer to the University of South Florida in August and wants to become an astrophysicist.
