Press Release : The Studio@620 presents group art exhibition “Known Unknowns”, opening May 12, 2018 For Immediate Release St. Petersburg, FL (April 23, 2018) — The Studio@620 presents “Known Unknowns”, a group exhibition focused on contemporary representational painting featuring artwork from five emerging local artists. “Known Unknowns” is a showcase of five carefully selected local artists: Eric Ondina, Jake Troyli, Rachel Underwood, Carola Miles and Christopher Evans. Come see how they use color, wit, exaggeration and metaphor in their work as a way to express and explore emotions, relationships, and societal criticisms. Exhibit dates: May 12-26, 2018/Gallery Hours by Appointment Opening Reception: Saturday May 12, 2018 / 5-9PM Closing Reception with Artist’s Discussion: Saturday May 26, 2018 / 6-9PM, Artist Discussion at 7PM Admission is free and open to the public. About the artists: Eric Ondina Eric works in the allegorical painting tradition using contemporary and historical narratives as metaphors for his social criticisms. Jake Troyli Jake uses humor and wit to address the issues of race and class in American society. Rachel Underwood Rachel’s work merges sculpture, painting and installation to create encompassing atmospheres which discuss humanities duplicitous relationship with nature. Carola Miles Born in Buenos Aires and living much of her life in Santiago Chile, Carola finds beauty in the seemingly mundane. Her work exorcises a gamut of emotions from people and objects otherwise overlooked. Christopher Evans Christopher works in a heavy and visceral, yet formulaic and methodical visual language. His paintings are indexical gestures of anxiety embodied. The redundancy of form becomes therapy in action. Chris’s subjects oscillate between biological and anatomical abstracts, detailing the gap between the physical and the mental complexities of psychological function.
