Terrific Tots at Sundial
Tuesdays from May 1- 29, 2018
9:30-10 a.m.

Every Tuesday, join the Great Ex S.T.E.A.M. Team at 9:30am at Sundial in downtown St. Petersburg to participate in this iconic Great Ex program. Terrific Tots at Sundial is for children ages 1-4 and a caregiver and includes songs, stories, opportunities for creative expression through art and movement, and community time with fun and engaging toys that encourage curiosity, communication, creativity and critical thinking! Terrific Tots
Wednesdays and Fridays from May 2-30

Terrific Tots is a FREE members-only program that offers a unique bonding experience for children aged 1-3 and their caregivers! Explore art, music and language with your little one in this fun and safe environment. In the beginning of each class we’ll join in sing-a-longs that encourage movement and parent involvement. Memory Mondays

On the first Monday of the month, Great Explorations hosts a FREE program for adults with memory loss. Participants take part in programs focusing on art, music, and movement and stress reduction and enjoy quality time with others. This monthly event is sponsored by AARP and presented in partnership with the Alzheimer's Association Florida Gulf Coast Chapter. Additional support is provided by Harmony Home Health.

This month, Shannon Lipan from The Wonder Studio will join us to explore Etegami Watercolor Postcards and will facilitate a Guided Pebble Meditation. Peaceful and Powerful Parenting
Wednesdays, May 9-30, 2018
6 to 8 p.m.

Join us for a four-week program brought to you by Great Explorations
and Suncoast Center, Inc. This course is designed to help parents with children of all ages build peaceful and powerful family relationships. Pre-registration is required and space is limited. Cost: $40 for the course, free for Great Ex members and TFS families.

Parents’ Night Out

6 to 10 p.m.

Drop off your children (ages 4 -10) for a night of fun at the museum while you take some time for dinner, shopping or just a night for yourself!?Children will play in the museum, explore our popular Longo's Cove, watch exciting science shows and enjoy a G or light PG- rated movie. Pizza, snacks and juice are included. Advanced registration is required.?

Out of this World event

Great Explorations is part of a nationwide celebration of educational programs designed to engage audiences in the awe-inspiring fields of Earth and space science. This exciting event provides an opportunity to connect with current NASA science research and explore Earth and space phenomena. The Out of this World event will include exciting science, take-home materials, and engaging discussion about science and society.
The Explore Science: Earth & Space project is led by the Science Museum of Minnesota, in collaboration with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Explore Science: Earth & Space toolkits are developed and distributed nationwide by the National Informal STEM Education Network (NISE Net). All activities are included in membership/admission.

Great Connections

Join us for Great Connections presented in partnership with Help Me Grow Pinellas.
Connect with your family, with other families and with resources in the community.
Great Connections is a monthly program just for children with special needs and their families. The second Sunday of the month, Great Explorations modifies lights and sounds and provides a “cool down” room for families who need to take a break. This month, participants will have the opportunity to make Mother’s Day cards and works of art.
Cost: $5 per person, free for Great Ex members!

Mother’s Day
May 13, 2018
12 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Great Explorations will be open from 12:00-4:30 on Mother’s Day, May 13th. Spend the day at Great Ex making memories with mom. Card crafting will be available throughout the day. Stage shows and table top programs will take place throughout the day. All activities are included in membership/admission.

Don’t Fry Day
May 25, 2018
10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

On this, the first day of summer break, children can learn about sun safety at Great Explorations. Create bracelets with beads that respond to UV light, visors to protect your head from the sun, and learn how filters affect light transmission. Stage shows and critter encounters will take place throughout the day. All activities are included in membership/admission.

Memorial Day
May 28, 2018
10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Great Explorations will be open on Memorial Day from 10:00-4:30p. Children will have the opportunity to make cards for members of the United States Armed Forces thanking them for their service. Stage shows and table top programs will take place throughout the day. All activities are included in membership/admission.

Great Ex is looking for summer volunteers!
Join the volunteer team that lets you paint like an artist, experiment like a scientist, and play like a kid. Limited spots available. To be considered, volunteers must be at least 14 years of age by May 29, 2018 and must pass a Florida Department of Law Enforcement background screening. See for more information and to apply.

About Great Explorations Children’s Museum

Great Explorations Children’s Museum has served the children and families of the Tampa Bay area since 1987. Designed for children 10 and under, the 23,000 square foot museum is filled with exhibits and activities to stimulate learning through creativity, play and exploration. This AAM–Accredited children’s museum also offers a national award winning preschool, camps, field trips and community outreach programs.

Hours: Monday – Saturday 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Sunday 12 - 4:30 p.m.

Admission: Museum admission is free for children under 1 year, $10 for ages 1 to 54 years and $9 for ages 55 and up. Admission is always free for museum members.
