Candidate Forum: Congressional Seat 13 and Pinellas County School Board at large-district 1 on Oct. 22

(St. Petersburg, FL)- The NAACP St. Petersburg Branch #5130 in conjunction with partners Alpha Kappa Alpha, Alpha Phi Alpha, Omega Psi Phi and Phi Beta, will host a Candidate Forum: Congressional Seat 13 and Pinellas County School Board at-large district 1 from 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, Oct. 22 at Campbell Park Elementary, 1051 7th Ave. S, St. Petersburg, FL 33705.

School board district 1 candidates Joanne Lentino and Dr. Matthew Stewart and Congressman David Jolly (R-13), who’s running for re-election, will be in attendance. Dr. Chris Warren will serve as moderator.

The community will have the opportunity to discuss their concerns and desires for their children to receive a quality education from preschool to college with those seeking their votes.

“This election like all others are crucial to the African American community,” said NAACP President Maria Scrugg. “It is imperative that organizations like the NAACP offer the community opportunities to move beyond the political pandering which occurs too often in the African-American community and create opportunities for the community to engage candidates up close and personal.Education funding and resources is paramount from local funding sources to Washington D.C.”
