ABOUT THE CENTRAL AVENUE SOLSTICE

On September 24, 2016, the Central Avenue Solstice will return for its second year. This all-day event is held from sunrise to sunset, along the entire 7-mile length of Central Avenue, from Tampa Bay to the Gulf of Mexico, and is one of the featured events of the St. Pete Arts Fest.

The Central Avenue Solstice celebrates the day the sun rises and sets on Central Avenue, which is the main artery or "zipper" of The Sunshine City, and home to 14% of the City's businesses. To commemorate the day, visitors can explore a large array of activities along the Avenue, while the sun journeys from East to West directly overhead. It is a full-day celebration of art, culture, music, food, shopping and all the things that make Central Avenue and St. Petersburg a great place to be.

Event activities will begin on the east end of Central Avenue (South Straub Park) at SUNRISE for yoga, tai chi, and boot camp classes, followed by breakfast specials, art demonstrations, live music at 5 main stages, family activities, human foosball, karaoke & open talent stage, markets, and ending with Sunset Salutations, Contest Awards, and movie on the west end of the Avenue (Sunset Park). Event activities are free, as is the Central Avenue Trolley, which will be running free all day.

This event is organized and hosted by the Central Avenue Council, EDGE District, Grand Central District, Central Arts District, Warehouse Arts District, Professional District, and West Central Village District. More info at www.centralavenuesolstice.com.
