St. Petersburg (August 23, 2016) – Bootlegging, gambling, arson and gang murders —a variety of activity that flourished in the era of Prohibition, but the backdrop isn’t Chicago, it’s sunny Florida where the Mafia battled for supremacy of the criminal underworld in Tampa.
Author and Mafia expert Scott Deitche will share stories of Tampa’s infamous organized crime past as Happy Hour with the Historian returns Thursday, September 8 at the St. Petersburg Museum of History.

Deitche is the author of six books on organized crime, including Cigar City Mafia: A Complete History of the Tampa Underworld, and The Silent Don: The World of Santo Trafficante Jr.

He has also written dozens of articles on organized crime for local and national magazines and newspapers. Deitche has been featured on The Discovery Channel, The History Channel, A&E, C-SPAN, and both national and local news and radio shows. He is also the senior writer for Tampa Mafia Magazine.

Doors open at 6:30 for the event and admission is a $5 suggested donation to the Museum of History.
