Clearwater Marine Aquarium “Making Waves” Speaker Series: Sea Turtle SOS

• Free educational seminar on Thursday, August 18th
• Featured Subject: Sea Turtle Rehabilitation

Clearwater, FL (August 10, 2016) – Clearwater Marine Aquarium (CMA) will highlight their sea turtle rehabilitation work for the August session of the free Making Waves Speaker Series. Cassie Seebart, one of the sea turtle biologists at CMA, will lead the session.

During this session, guests can learn about the most common patients in our hospital: sea turtles. There are seven species of sea turtles in the world, five of which call the Gulf of Mexico their home. The sea turtles treated at CMA require a tremendous amount of resources and specialized care, as many of them are battling highly contagious fibropapilloma tumors. Cassie will discuss sea turtle stranding procedures, rehabilitation, and what the public can do to help protect these endangered reptiles.

This free speaker series is geared toward anyone wanting to learn more about marine life and conservation and is open to guests of all ages. To learn more about upcoming sessions, visit our website here:
