Forum will focus on amendments to the state Constitution
St. Petersburg College’s Institute for Strategic Policy Solutions will present a public forum about the five Constitutional amendments on the state ballot on Thursday, July 28. The free program will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at SPC’s Clearwater Campus, 2465 Drew St., Room ES-104. The amendments cover: solar power generation (two different amendments); legalization of marijuana for medical purposes; ad valorem tax relief to first responders disabled from injuries incurred during duty; and expansion of homestead tax exemption for certain low-income senior citizens.

Registration for fall term is underway
Registration for the fall semester continues. The regular fall term begins Monday, Aug. 15 and the fall express term begins Sept. 12. SPC has guaranteed scheduling so no class will be canceled once it is posted. The last day to register for an online course for the regular session is Sunday, Aug. 14. Learn more here.

Groundbreaking held for new joint-use library at SPC’s Clearwater Campus
groundbreaking ceremony was held Thursday, July 21 for the Clearwater East Community Library at St. Petersburg College’s Clearwater Campus. The state-of-the-art, two-story building will be an open-space concept and will replace the existing facility, which was built in 1964. The $15 million library will house more than 90,000 electronic and print books and is a joint project between the college and the City of Clearwater. It will replace the city’s East branch Library and the college’s library on the Clearwater Campus.
This is the third joint-use library for SPC, which also houses community libraries on its Seminole and Gibbs campuses. Two-day drone maintenance and repair course
The Workforce Institute at St. Petersburg College is hosting:
• Two-day Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) Maintenance and Repair Course
• 6-9 p.m. Aug. 16-17
• SPC EpiCenter, 13805 58th St. N., Largo.

In this two-day introductory course, students' are familiarized with specialized UAS-related terminology, pre-flight checklists, controllers, motors, cameras, batteries, maintenance and repair. Topics include: troubleshooting and diagnostics, battery care and storage, and general safety considerations
