Ricky P's Orleans Bistro leaving Central Avenue

After four and a half years in the beautiful historic Jordan Building at 1113 Central Avenue, in the heart of the popular Edge District, Ricky P’s Orleans Bistro will be closing and moving to a new location.
In fact the popularity of the Edge District has created such a demand for space, rental prices have risen dramatically in the last two years, putting financial pressure on independent operators like Rick and Lisa Parsons- owner operators of Ricky P’s. Once Rick & Lisa Parsons realized the upcoming rent increase was too much for their family friendly concept to absorb, they decided to move back to 4th Street N., where their original PoBoy shop became popular. “We want to concentrate on what we do best; produce great tasting New Orleans, Creole and Cajun classics at affordable prices and also put more emphasis on catering,” explains Rick Parsons. A new wrinkle will be prepared meals to go, focusing on comfort food only seen previously on the catering menu and as specials. The new Ricky P’s brand will be called....Ricky P's Creole Kitchen.
Located on 4th Street just north of Gandy Boulevard in the Bayview Plaza, 11002-4th Street North, Ricky P’s Creole Kitchen will be joining Cody's Roadhouse Grill, Skyway Jack's Cafe and Winn Dixie; taking over the end cap space that formally held GoodFella's Pizza for the past 20 years. Rick Parsons is proud to declare: There is plenty of free parking!
Ricky P's Orleans Bistro will be open until Sunday, July 31st, 2016.
Hours are Monday – Thursday 11am-9pm, Friday & Saturday 11am-10pm and for Sunday Jazz Brunch 11am-3pm; still serving authentic New Orleans, Cajun, Southern and Creole Cuisine. Rick grew up in New Orleans and learned to cook from his Cajun Mama Marie and her sister, his beloved Aunt Thelma. He then worked at Jack’s Po Boy Shop while he was attending the University of New Orleans. Located on David Dr. in Metairie ( a New Orleans suburb), Jack’s was the unofficial New Orleans Saints po boy shop , located just a few blocks from the Saints practice facility, and he is still proud to cheer on his New Orleans Saints football team.
Rick Parsons started the Ricky P’s brand at the Saturday Morning Market in 2008, then opened Ricky P’s Po Bo Shop on 4th Street shortly thereafter. While waiting for the right space to expand his brand, he operated the cafe in Bob Lee's Tires for two years before opening the current full service restaurant in downtown St. Pete in early 2012.
Ricky P’s Creole Kitchen will be a bit smaller than the Central Avenue location,(2600 sf vs. 3800sf) and bigger than the original Po Boy Shop, so Parsons is thinking this size will be just right! With many multi-family complexes and numerous local businesses in the immediate area, Parsons hopes to cater to a larger mass of neighborhood locals as well as provide delivery and corporate catering to the business corridor along 4th St N and Roosevelt. “We have been servicing customers like Raymond James, Brighthouse and Jabil Circuit from our downtown location for years, so now we will be just blocks away, making deliveries faster and more efficient.”
There will be a strong daily happy hour promotion to encourage patrons to stop in on their way home for a cold one and bite to eat and will also feature a daily chef’s special and package food to go such as stuffed peppers, Crawfish cornbread, spinach & artichoke dip, corn maque choux, seafood lasagna, crawfish mac & cheese, muffaletta pasta salad, as well as various seafood spreads. Rick just wants to continue to do what he loves to do, and that’s share his love of Creole and Cajun cooking and his love for Louisiana and New Orleans. Dang! That’s Good!
