Clearwater Marine Aquarium “Making Waves” Speaker Series:
Cutting through Conservation Issues

Clearwater, FL (July 8, 2016) –Clearwater Marine Aquarium (CMA) will feature Dr. Gregg Poulakis and his research regarding stingrays and sawfish during the July session of the free Making Waves Speaker Series.
Dr. Gregg Poulakis earned his B.S. in Biological Sciences at State University of New York at Oswego, his M.S. in Marine Biology at Florida Tech, and his Ph.D. in Oceanography at Florida Tech. He has worked at the Charlotte Harbor Field Laboratory of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission since 1997. Dr. Poulakis is currently researching smalltooth sawfish and cownose rays. Little was known about the smalltooth sawfish before its population declined. Dr. Poulakis’s research is crucial to developing management strategies for the recovery of the species.
