An Innovative, Free Approach to Job Searches
Goodwill’s Job Connection Center gets people to work!

In an effort to bring its mission of putting people to work at the forefront of its daily operations, Goodwill-Suncoast opened a Job Connection Center right inside its St. Petersburg Superstore at 3365 Central Avenue. All of the Center’s services are free to local job seekers.

The Center is a local, community based place where people can comfortably job search in a supportive environment. It offers career planning and exploration and assists job seekers to identify paths to their careers of interest. It also offers reading, math and financial literacy options as well as employability workshops such as resume development, computer classes and interview skills for those who need assistance, or who need to be connected to other agencies that can best serve them.

In addition, the Center is a place for job holders or job seekers to simply get answers regarding local services – such as where to find childcare, transportation, and training, for example.

Job Connection Center employees are also reaching out to other local agencies to help them carry out workshops or job placement services that they may not otherwise have the resources/budget to provide themselves. Every Wednesday, for example, free workshops are held at Pinellas Hope, aimed at assisting the adults who are homeless create resumes and prepare for job searches. Local businesses are also welcome to use the center’s Job Connection Community Room (inside the Goodwill store) for recruiting events.
