7th Annual Extreme Mud Wars to take place in Downtown St. Pete on July 16, 2016

Adults get ready to get Filthy for a good cause!

St. Pete, FL, June 2, 2016 – The City of St. Pete Parks and Recreation Department and TASCO (Teen, Arts, Sports, and Cultural Opportunities) are once again partnering with Tampa Bay Club Sport to bring back the wildly popular Extreme Mud Wars (EMW) to Spa Beach Park. Last year, more than 960 people competed against each other in series of events that are just as enjoyable to watch as they are to participate in. EMW, hosted at Spa Beach park at the base of the Pier in downtown St. Pete, boasts 8 mud covered events that teams rotate through to determine who the best of the best is. The event takes approximately 2 grueling weeks of set up. A minimum of 5,000 sandbags, 10 8-ton dump trunks of soil, 8 fire hoses, 30 concrete road barriers, bike racks, tents and trailers are brought in to make this event happen. NOW ITS YOUR TURN! Companies, friends, and groups can get their teams dirty in this all-day event. Whether you might be in it to become a champion or the filthiest of the filthy, this is the prime opportunity for teams of friends or co-workers to participate in the all day mud event, which will include the events listed below:

Ball Frenzy- Dominate the inflatable mud arena by keeping the least balls on your side.
Ultimate Football – Get dirty scoring touch downs in this game played like ultimate frisbee
Eliminator - Who can get the most balls in their bucket before time runs out by stealing them from other competitors
Tug-A-War - Go against all three teams on your rotation... best record earns the most points.
Joust - Knock your competitor into the pit... ten points for each victory.
Belly Bumpers - It's sumo wrestling with an inflatable belly bumper... knock your opponent down and earn 10 points each time.
Obstacle course - Your racing against the clock in a relay to complete the Mud Obstacle Course.
Dodge Ball - Take the other team in a game of dodge ball in the mud.

Teams of 6-10 are suggested with a minimum of at least 2 females. This year, the event will accommodate 64 teams on Saturday only! All participants must be at least 18 or older. Food and drink vendors will be onsite with a "beer garden" that will benefit the Secrets of the Sea Marine Exploration Center and Aquarium as well as Hands4Hope. Team cost is now $500 for Saturday. Proceeds from event registration to benefit TASCO. All teams must register ahead of time and can do so at EMW will start promptly at 9 AM and run through 4 PM. All in all, the 2015 event helped raise over $10,000 for a number of charities and we hope to beat that number in 2016! Curious? Check out the results, photos, and videos from 2015 by visiting
