Clearwater Marine Aquarium “Making Waves” Speaker Series: “Make way for the babies”

• Free educational seminar on Thursday, May 19, 2016
• Featured Speakers: CMA Sea Turtle Team
• Topic: Sea Turtle Nesting with CMA’s turtle patrol

Clearwater, FL (May 13, 2016) – Clearwater Marine Aquarium (CMA) will feature the sea turtle team for the May session of the free Making Waves Speaker Series. With nesting season underway, the turtle patrol will be busy from May to October monitoring loggerhead nests along 26 miles of Pinellas County beaches. Presenting speakers are sea turtle biologists Lindsey Flynn, Cassie Seebart, and Becca Riley.

The presentation will allow guests to dive into the daunting journey of a sea turtle hatchling. Many adventures await the young turtles as they trek to the ocean. Guests will learn the story of the “washback” hatchlings: tiny turtles who lost their way during last summer’s storms.

This free speaker series is geared toward anyone wanting to learn more about marine life and conservation and is open to guests of all ages. To learn more about upcoming sessions, visit our website here: http://www.seewinter.com/educate/educational-events/making-waves-speaker-series
