St. Petersburg College marks 130th commencement on May 7

Graduations for St. Petersburg College will hold its 130th commencement ceremony at 9 a.m., Saturday, May 7 at Tropicana Field, One Tropicana Drive, St. Petersburg. This year, U.S. Rep. Gus M. Bilirakis (FL-12) will be honored at the 2016 Outstanding Alumnus. (Note: Press release with additional details to follow.)


Pinellas County Commission to host "Community Conversation" at SPC Seminole Campus, on May 3

The Pinellas County Board of Commissioners, and the County Administrator, will host a "Community Conversation" at the Seminole Campus Digitorium, 9200 113 St. N., on May 3.

The event will include a "meet-and-greet" from 5:30 to 6 p.m., and a public meeting from 6 to 7 p.m. The public meeting will also be an "e-Town Hall meeting," where members of the community can call and post questions and comments on a blog. The event will be livestreamed. The blog will open at 9 a.m. May 3 and can be accessed at Community members may call in with questions during the event at 1-888-409-5380. The event will be televised on PCC-TV (BrightHouse: Ch.-637, WOW!: Ch-18, or Verizon Ch.-44). The event will also be livestreamed on the county's Facebook page. They can post questions on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram using #PinellasCC hashtag. The event is free and open to the public.


Small Business Week Speaker Series

The Workforce Institute at St. Petersburg College is hosting a free Small Business Week Speaker Series at EpiCenter, 13805 58th St. N Clearwater. Underwater Cleanup hosted by Clearwater Campus Scuba Club and Science Adventures Club

The Clearwater Campus Scuba Club and Science Adventures Club will host a cleanup to remove old fishing gear and crab trap ropes that can be harmful to marine life. The clean-up will be held on Saturday, May 21 from 9 a.m. to noon at Pier 60, 1 Causeway Blvd, Clearwater Beach.


SPC Foundation is accepting applications for scholarships

St. Petersburg College Foundation is accepting applications for scholarships for the 2016-17 academic year. During the 2015-16 academic year, the college awarded more than $1.5 million in scholarships to more than 1,900 students. Not all Foundation Scholarships are based on financial need. To qualify for a scholarship:

Family-friendly Touch-a-Truck event

St. Petersburg College’s Allstate Center will honor National Armed Forces Day with its Second Annual “Touch-a-Truck” event on Saturday, May 21. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Allstate Center, 3200 34th St. S., St. Petersburg. “Touch-a-Truck” is a fun and affordable, family-friendly event where children, teens and parents can see impressive vehicles up close, learn about their functions and the exciting careers associated with those vehicles. SPC fall term registration is now open

Registration for the fall semester has opened. The regular fall term begins Aug. 16 and the fall express term begins Sept. 12. Additionally, registration for the regular summer term continues. The regular summer term starts May 16 and the summer express term begins June 13. SPC has guaranteed scheduling so no class will be canceled once it is posted. Learn more here.
