Sketch and Sip in the EDGE

For Immediate Release

April 27, 2016, St. Petersburg, FL

On May 3, 2016, Sketch and Sip will open its doors at 1010 Central in the EDGE District.

Offering unique, step-by-step instructional painting classes, Sketch and Sip has been in business in Hillsborough County for almost eight years, in Winthrop Towne Center near Brandon. Owner Patty Sisco was eager to expand into St. Petersburg. "We have been doing very well and are so pleased to open an even larger studio in the EDGE District. Our mission is to spread art throughout the community, so we are excited to join an already vibrant art community and contribute to the district and area, as a whole."

Sketch and Sip's Winthrop Towne Center studio accommodates 40 people per class and frequently sells out. Its new space in the EDGE will fit twice that number of guests.

The Sketch and Sip format focuses on one painting and provides attentive instruction to each participant. Classes typically last 2 ½ hours during which each participant completes a painting. More than 150 original paintings are available for class subjects, with new compositions added every month. A variety of media is also used. For example, on Wednesday evenings participants select from a variety of glassware and stencils to create unique pieces of art.

There is also a social component to Sketch and Sip classes. Guests can join in public classes, or bring friends and family and reserve seats together, or book private classes. Private classes can be used for team building or special occasions like bridal showers, birthdays, bachelorette parties, and the like. Packages are offered to fit guests needs. The "Sip" part of the experience is the guest's ability to bring her or his own beverages and food to class. Sketch and Sip provides everything else - the music, cups, plates, napkins, ice, bottled water, bottle openers and all other supplies.
