City of St. Petersburg Hires Shaun Amarnani to Serve as Neighborhood Economic Development Coordinator

Tuesday, April 05, 2016

Today, Mayor Rick Kriseman announced the hiring of Shaun Amarnani, a former Assistant City Attorney with the City of Tampa, to serve as the City of St. Petersburg’s Neighborhood Economic Development Coordinator. This position is dedicated to increasing economic opportunities in and around St. Petersburg neighborhoods.

Said Mayor Rick Kriseman: “Our neighborhoods are what make St. Petersburg special. With the incredible growth we are experiencing throughout the city, it’s important to have someone to ensure those economic opportunities are felt in all our neighborhoods. I am pleased to welcome Shaun to the City of St. Petersburg family.”

Said St. Petersburg Economic Development Administrator Alan DeLisle: “We needed someone working key, catalytic, job-creating projects in the heart of our communities on an everyday basis. We have hired someone with the right skill set to help us get these neighborhood economic development projects accomplished. Shaun, a St. Petersburg resident, is going to be a great addition to the team."

Amarnani has been a land use and governmental attorney for both the City of Tampa and Hernando County. Last year, Amarnani was awarded the honors of being voted by his peers to 2015 Florida Trend’s Legal Elite List for Governmental and Non-Profit Attorneys, becoming 1 of only 55 attorneys in the entire state of Florida to receive such honors. Besides his legal/governmental background, Amarnani is a licensed Florida Real Estate Broker who has an educational background in real estate from his undergraduate degree in real estate and finance from Florida State University. Prior to working in the public sector, Amarnani worked in the private sector as a commercial real estate loan investment analyst and asset manager for a billion dollar real estate investment company that is now part of Starwood Capital.
