St. Petersburg Libraries Participating in Second Annual SunLit Festival
St. Petersburg, Fla. (March 3, 2016) – The St. Petersburg Library System will offer a variety of events as part of the Second Annual SunLit Festival, to be held Friday, March 4 through Sunday, March 13, 2016.
The kickoff event for the Festival, the Second Annual SunLit Award Ceremony, honoring Helen Pruitt Wallace, is at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 5, at the Main Library, 3745 Ninth Ave. N., St. Petersburg, FL 33713. Also Saturday, March 5, the Sixth Annual James Weldon Johnson Literacy Festival will be held at the James Weldon Johnson Community Library, 1059 18th Ave. S. from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
On Sunday, March 6, at 2 p.m., join us for a Citywide Read & Write In, to be held in South Straub Park, 198 Bayshore Drive NE, in partnership with Keep Saint Petersburg Local and Keep St. Pete Lit. Bring a blanket, your imagination, and a favorite book – or find a new book from our Libraries Unshelved collection.
Other events for children and families include storytimes at all seven library locations; a puppet show at the Main Library on Monday, March 7, at 10:30 am; and Roll Over & Read, a reading program with therapy dogs, at Main Library and South Community Library, 2300 Roy Hanna Drive S. Events for adults include the Florida Writers’ Association monthly meeting, Thursday, March 10, at 5:30 p.m.; the LGBT Book Club’s monthly meeting on Saturday, March 12, at 11 a.m.; and a crafting program for adults on Sunday, March 13 at 3 p.m. These programs all take place at the Main Library.
The St. Petersburg Library System offers these programs as a part of its Community Development Initiative, a method to enhance the provision of resources, services, and programs focused on the Education, Economy, Ecology, Equity, Efficiency and Engagement of our community.
