Gay Drama Next in LGBTQ Film Series

GULFPORT, FLORIDA: The LGBTQ Resource Center at Gulfport Public Library is proud to continue its monthly LGBTQ Film Series on Thursday, January 10 with a recent drama about a gay man infiltrating the life of his deceased lover’s widow. The Film Series is a free gathering to watch a film in the company of friends and neighbors on the second Thursday of each month.

Each film begins at 7pm in the Friends Room at Gulfport Public Library (5501 28th Avenue South).  Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Licensing restrictions prohibit explicitly naming film titles in general press releases.  But feel free to call the Library at (727) 893-1074 for the film title and other information about the film series.  Or find titles and more information online: www.mygulfport.us/lgbtq-resources.

About the January 10 film: Thomas, a young German baker, is having an affair with Oren, an Israeli married man who has frequent business visits in Berlin in this 2017 release. When Oren dies in a car crash in Israel, Thomas travels to Jerusalem seeking answers regarding his death. Under a secret identity, Thomas infiltrates into the life of Anat, his lover's newly widowed wife. The encounter with the unfamiliar reality will make Thomas involved in Anat's life in a way far beyond his anticipation, and to protect the truth he will stretch his lie to a point of no return.  (Not Rated; Adults only suggested)

Save the date, Thursday February 14, for the next film in the series.  Ulysses is a shy and effeminate boy who finds himself coping with new responsibilities as man of the house after the death of his father. Living alongside his mother, younger brother, and conservative aunt, Ulysses is also struggling with questions about his gender identity. He finds an escape by creating a world of fantasy filled with dance and music. Ulysses' journey takes a turn for the better when he discovers a vibrant transgender community, who take him to "Saturday Church," a program for LGBTQ youth. (Not Rated)

Watch for announcements of other films as they are added to the series on the second Thursday of each month.
