TRACK BUILD BEGINS FOR 2018 FIRESTONE GRAND PRIX OF ST PETERSBURG

WHY: Race track construction commences for the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. Headlined by the Verizon IndyCar Series, 11 total races will be featured March 9-11th for one of the biggest annual events in the Tampa Bay area. St. Petersburg will also launch the much-anticipated debut of the new Indy car aerodynamic body kit into competition.

CREDENTIALS: Media credential applications for the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, March 9-11th race weekend are now being accepted. The online form is available via the "Media" page at gpstpete.com. The deadline to submit applications is Friday, Feb. 16, at 4 p.m. ET.

Entering its 14th year, the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg is run on a 1.8-mile, 14-turn waterfront circuit that includes a combination of adjacent downtown streets circling Pioneer Park, the Duke Energy Center for the Arts, The Dali Museum and extending onto the runways at Albert Whitted Airport, which overlook the Tampa Bay and picturesque St. Petersburg Harbor and Marina.
