Peaceful & Powerful Parenting Class
Thursdays from Jan. 25 to Mar. 15
9-11a.m.

 
Join Great Explorations and Suncoast Center for an eight-week program designed to help parents with children of all ages build peaceful and powerful family relationships. Have FUN meeting & sharing ideas with other parents, understand how children learn & develop, discover & practice peaceful and powerful communication skills and discipline strategies and more.

Pre-registration is required. Call Juliana Menke, LMHC, 727-327-7656 X 4160 to register and for more information. The fee for the entire course is $40 or free to Great Explorations members and TFS families.


Terrific Tots
Wednesdays and Fridays from Feb 2-28
9:30-10 a.m.

Terrific Tots is a FREE members-only program that offers a unique bonding experience for children aged 1-3 and their caregivers! Explore art, music and language with your little one in this fun and safe environment. In the beginning of each class we’ll join in sing-a-longs that encourage movement and parent involvement. Heart Health Fridays
Fridays from Feb 2-23
2 to 4 p.m.


Join us on Fridays in February, for activities that focus on heart-health. Community Partners will join Great Explorations to deliver fun, engaging and educational information about maintaining a heart-healthy life. Join us on Feb. 2 for fitness exercises with St. Pete Run Fest. On Feb. 9, TB Club Sports Kids will be here with sports activities, and On the Mat Martial Arts will provide martial arts demonstrations on Feb. 16. We will not have a community partner on Feb. 23 and the museum will be closing at 3pm.


Ready, Set, Go!
Feb. 3, 2018
10 a.m. to 2 p.m.


Great Explorations teamed up with Firestone Grand Prix for a race car event at the museum. Join us to take photos with a Grand Prix race car stationed outside Great Explorations and fun exciting car activities inside the museum. Activities will include a sensory friendly toy car shaving cream car wash, DIY cardboard cars, matchbox car drawings, ozobot exploration and race car relays. All activities are included in membership/admission.


Memory Mondays
Feb. 5, 2018
10 a.m. to 12 p.m.


Beginning in February, Great Explorations will host a FREE program for adults with memory loss. Participants will take part in programs focusing on art, music, and movement and will enjoy quality time with others. This monthly event in partnership with the Alzheimer's Association Florida Gulf Coast Chapter and is available at no cost thanks in part to support from AARP.

In February, the community partners are Vince Longo, who will provide live Valentine's Day-themed music, VSA Florida Teaching Artist Cynthia Alicea who will facilitate a dance activity and Bette Gold who will lead chair yoga.


Parents’ Night Out
Feb. 9, 2018

Drop off your children (ages 4 -10) for a night of fun at the museum while you take some time for yourself! Children can play in the museum, explore our popular climber, watch exciting science shows and enjoy a G or light PG- rated movie. Pizza, snacks and juice are included. Great Connections
Feb. 11, 2018

Great Connections is a monthly program just for children with special needs and their families. The second Sunday of the month, Great Explorations will modify lights and sounds, and will provide a “cool down” room for families who need to take a break.

This month’s community partner is FND (Family Network on Disabilities), a national network of individuals of all ages who may be at-risk, have disabilities, or have special needs and their families, professionals, and concerned citizens. Cost: $5 per person, free for Great Ex members!


Presidents’ Day
Feb. 19, 2018
10 a.m. to 4 p.m.


Join us for Presidents’ Day, with stage show presentations at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. As Presidents are featured on U.S. coins, activities about financial literacy will take place throughout the day. Join us for coin rubbings, George Washington & Abraham Lincoln masks, coin bank decorating and more. All activities are included in membership/admission.


Night at the Brewseum Presented by Harmony Home Health
Feb. 23, 2018
7 to 10 p.m.


Join us for Great Explorations annual fundraiser being held on Feb. 23, 2018. Guests will taste local craft brews, challenge friends in the “Ex Games” and play like a kid again in our hands-on exhibits. There will be drinks, entertainment, live music, games, and more! Great Explorations Children’s Museum has served the children and families of the Tampa Bay area since 1987. Designed for children 10 and under, the 23,000 square foot museum is filled with exhibits and activities to stimulate learning through creativity, play and exploration.
