Rescued Dolphin Accurately Picked Clemson as National Champion

Autographed Ball used for pick to be auctioned on eBay to Raise Funds for his Care

Clearwater, Florida (January 10, 2017) – Nicholas the Dolphin, rescued and cared for by Clearwater Marine Aquarium (CMA) since December 24, 2002, defied the pundits and accurately picked the College Football Playoff Winner – Clemson.   Nicholas did this in a Facebook Live video on January 6th, which has received more than 600,000 views to date:

Now through Saturday, CMA is auctioning on eBay the lucky football he used to make this incredible pick.  The football is autographed by Nicholas and comes with a certificate of authenticity.   All dollars raised will be used to fund his special care and the care of the other rescued dolphins, Winter and Hope, made famous by the Dolphin Tale movies.

“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for a Clemson fan to own a memento of the historic victory on January 9, 2017 – when Clemson upset Alabama 35-31,” says David Yates, CEO of Clearwater Marine Aquarium. “All while supporting an incredible, non-profit cause.  And who knows, maybe this lucky football will help Clemson win another Championship in years to come.”

Nicholas has inspired millions with his story of survival.  Against all odds and with passionate care by the CMA team, Nicholas recovered from serious burns that covered 35% of his body caused by sunburn when he beached himself at six months old.  Without a mother to teach him life skills (dolphins stay with their mothers for 4-6 years), the CMA staff and volunteers have become his devoted, loving forever family.

Act now to own a piece of history while supporting Nicholas and the incredible rescue, rehabilitation and release efforts of the Clearwater Marine Aquarium.   Go to to see the actual football and place your bid.
