Firestone Grand Prix of St. Pete Continues Its Support for PAL's Annual Brinner

ST PETERSBURG, Fla. (November 22, 2016)
– The Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg has teamed up with the Police Athletic League (PAL) of St. Petersburg as presenting sponsor of PAL’s 2017 Founders Club Brinner. Combining breakfast and dinner, this is the organization's largest annual fund-raising event, which earned nearly $100,000 in 2016 to serve local children, and also celebrates PAL and its accomplishments from the past year.

PAL’s Founders Club Brinner presented by Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2017. Approximately 50 companies and 320 people will attend.

One in 10 youth fell prey to juvenile crime in St. Petersburg in 2015. The Brinner supports PAL's ongoing efforts and critical programming for at risk children in the community and ensures their families can afford participation. Many former PAL program participants have become police officers in St. Petersburg and the surrounding communities and often become PAL volunteers themselves as adults.

"The Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg is extremely proud to be such a special part of the 2017 PAL Brinner," said Kim Green, co-owner, chairman and CEO of Green Savoree Racing Promotions, organizers of the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. "The work that PAL does has such an impact on our immediate community and the PAL Brinner is a unique fundraising event for its programs.”

“The St. Petersburg Police Athletic League is thrilled to have the support of the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg as a presenting sponsor of our annual Brinner event. With 97 percent of the children we serve receiving a free or a reduced program fee, this support is critical to us being able to combat juvenile crime in our community,” said John Ullrich, PAL board chairman and assistant vice president, Wallace Welch & Willingham. “Currently, about 150 kids participate in a PAL program each day. With this commitment, we will be able to continue to provide programming to this group at a critical point in their lives.”

About Police Athletic League of St. Petersburg
The Police Athletic League of St. Petersburg serves over 150 children daily out of our two facilities with 97 percent of these member receiving reduced or free fees. The mission of the Police Athletic League (PAL) is to prevent crime among our youth through recreation, education, and athletics. Our programs are based on the conviction that young people, if they are reached early enough, can develop strong positive attitudes towards police officers in their journey through life toward the goal of maturity and good citizenship. Thus, PAL programs foster relationships between our youth and local police officers. We grow great grown-ups.
