DUKE ENERGY ENHANCES CITY INFRASTRUCTURE WITH IMPROVEMENTS TO DOWNTOWN ELECTRICAL MANHOLES

ST. PETERSBURG, FL (November 18, 2016) - Over the next two weeks, Duke Energy will add advanced safety features to electrical manholes in downtown St. Petersburg and improve the city's infrastructure as part of a $140 million Duke Energy reliability program. From November 21-23 and November 28-30, Duke Energy crews will install the upgrades to manholes between First Ave. N. and Central and Fourth St. N. and Fifth St. N. and on Eighth St. N. between Central Ave. and First St. N., weather permitting.
Motorists may encounter temporary lane closures or traffic delays.

The project is part of Duke Energy's overall plan to ensure effective power delivery to St. Petersburg utility customers. Questions regarding the project should be directed to Duke Energy, 800-700-8744.

Citizens should note the manhole upgrades are not related to Mayor Kriseman's Wastewater Improvement Plan and will not have any effect on daily Water Resources operations, including sanitary sewers, potable, or reclaimed water.
