Celebrate the Season at the 2nd Annual Holiday Magic in the EDGE

St. Petersburg, FL. (November 14, 2016):

On Thursday, December 1st from 5-9 pm St. Petersburg's EDGE District will be center of holiday festivities with its 2nd Annual Holiday Magic in the EDGE. Hosted by the EDGE Business District Association, this event will fill the District with sights, songs, and celebration of the season. Merchants will be competing in both a Holiday Window Display Contest and a Festive Drink Contest, and visitors will also enjoy lighted trees, carolers, a lighted bike brigade, Jacob the Painting Horse, children's art activities, outdoor yuletide yoga, outdoor holiday movie, holiday wreath market, Santa Shuttle, winter bubbles, drawings for prizes, and more.

The event's Holiday Window Display Contest kicks off at noon on Saturday, November 26, when public voting begins for the People's Choice Award. Four other awards will also be determined by a secret panel of judges, including Most Original, Best Story/Theme, Best Use of Lighting, and Best Use of Product/Service. Voting will continue until December 14.

The event's Festive Drink Contest happens on December 1 from 5-9 pm, when EDGE merchants vie for the best alcoholic or nonalcoholic holiday drink. Visitors will taste samples and get to vote throughout the evening for their favorites. Ballots and a map of participating businesses for both contests will be posted on the EDGE website ( by November 26.

During main festivities of Holiday Magic on December 1st, visitors can stop in at the Welcome Center on the 1000 block of Central to get event maps, live holiday wreaths, or complimentary gift wrapping. From 5-7 pm they can also enjoy family art activities, meet special guest, Jacob the Painting Horse, or ease holiday stress with Yuletide Yoga from 7:30-8:30 pm. A few steps away at the Green Bench courtyard, visitors can enjoy an outdoor holiday movie, Elf, starting at 7 pm.

Another of the evening's highlights will be the Lighted Bike Brigade, which will coast through the EDGE, down Central Avenue from 16th Street to MLK and back again, starting at 6:30 pm.

The EDGE District is a fully accredited Main Street America™ and Florida Main Street operated by the EDGE Business District Association. The Association is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization comprised of businesses, property owners, residents, and visitors working to promote community interests by supporting and creating a sustainable local economy within the EDGE District of St. Petersburg, Florida.
