St. Petersburg Preservation Accepting Nominations for Prestigious Preservation Awards

St. Petersburg Preservation (SPP) is pleased to announce the nomination period for the 2017 Preservation Awards. The awards recognize the people, associations, and businesses that are actively working to preserve, restore, and complement the city’s historic buildings and places. Nominations can be made by building owners, neighbors, neighborhood associations or other groups. Nominations are an excellent way to recognize those individuals who Preserve the ‘Burg!
The 2017 Preservation Awards Celebration will take place on Wednesday, February 8th at the historic St. Petersburg Woman’s Club on Snell Island, in conjunction with an exhibit and sale of watercolor paintings of area landmarks by local artist Robert Holmes.
The awards recognize exemplary efforts in historic preservation in five categories: Residential and Commercial Restoration; Residential and Commercial Rehabilitation; Compatible Use; Adaptive Reuse; and Residential and Commercial Stewardship. There will also be an award for Preservationist of the Year. SPP works to foster an appreciation of St. Petersburg’s historic environment by educating the public about local historic resources, landmarking deserving sites and structures, and recognizing the people and business that help achieve this goal.
